A style of music I have really been into lately is Progressive Metal. I have been playing bands such as Protest The Hero, Between The Buried And Me, Opeth and other great bands constantly. One band I think everyone should look into is Speak Of The Devil.

TDTP is Addicting

For the past few days I have been listening to albums released within this year. One album I stumbled upon was Addicted by The Devin Townsend Project. After listening to this release, I went on Devin Townsend's official Youtube page to watch some videos of him recording. One video was showing the layering on the song 'Supercrush!'. This was an eye opening video showing all the parts to create the behemoth sound for the track. There are lots of small parts that layer together to create this sound. A voice part will have up to 5 effects on it. The chorus has some echo and also backed by a simple guitar track following the vocal patter of Devin Townsend.

The man is a genius and I am now going back to all his releases from his solo project and his metal band Strapping Young Lad. I am hearing small parts he has inserted to create the signature Devin Townsend sound. The man is truly an inspirational artist and deserves more fans for his work.

On top of being a great musician, he is also an owner of his own record label HeavyDevy Records. This distributes all his releases, even his Strapping Young Lad albums which were released on Century Media

2010 Torch Running

So there is alot of excitement for the Olympics 2010. Today at 6am I got to see the running of the torch. Early, cold and worth it.

When I first walked out of my place I was given a Royal Bank tambourine so I put that under my arms for the time. It was way to cold to hold onto it with my hands. After awhile we saw the vehicles down the street escorting the torch carer.

First we saw like a small bus holding all the other carer's in their white suits. After that was a Royal Bank and Coca Cola vehicles with employees. One of the ones from Coca Cola gave me and my mom a bottle of Coca Cola.

After all this we got to see the torch carer. When they stopped at the lights, another girl came up and lit her torch off the current runner and started going with the next part of the run. It was early but it was pretty cool lifetime chance.

Wild Arms 3

Ever since we got a new TV, I have been playing my ps2 alot. I have been playing the game Wild Arms 3. I am in love with this game at the moment. If anyone knows this game, I have just finished the Gemstone Cave, and am going to start doing the Secret Garden Sidequest.

Such a great game for anyone that likes RPG's.

I'm pretty excited, I found out that We Came As Romans are coming to tour across Ontario with Michael Froh (ex. The Holly Springs Disaster).

I can't wait to see them on the Oshawa date. The openers for this date are Counterparts,Structures and Silence The City.

When The Eagle.....

Yesterday I was at Marks Work Warehouse to buy some gloves for work. They were having a 20% discount on everything on the store which was really awesome and as a bonus as I was standing in line, there was a bird trainer with an eagle in the store. From the clothes they were from the Metro Toronto Zoo. Anyways the man walked down the line showing off this great bird and when he was beside me talking to the people, the eagle spread its wings and pooped right beside me which was gross.

Overall it was pretty cool. I wish I took a picture cause it was a great site this bird. Even the feet was pretty cool how big and strong they looked. Now I want a pet eagle.

David Hall's DM

David Hall, a person that is hard to find throughout the internet. I am trying to learn about this guys work in film. I have seen trailers, but want to see his recent work of putting films to albums.

Axis In Eden was his first one done. This was a Today Is The Day record. He has recently done one for the Canadian band Fuck The Facts album Disgorge, Mexico. I hope I can run across these sometime in the near future. They look messed up but interesting.

He has also done videos for other metal bands.

First Night Salt

Last night was my first day on the job. The job I have is snow removal. Last night since it snowed close to 1cm, so we had to go out at night and salt. Today my arms are sore, which means I need to build up my arms. Tonight is suppose to softly snow again so I'm sure I will be back out there tonight. Wednesday is the big snowing so I will have to shovel/salt that night. This is going to be a long winter. Can't wait

I spend alot of time online, and one thing I like to do is Design Fliers. Another thing I do when I am at the computer is I like to write. I don't mean writing on this blog...

I write for a site called Puregrainaudio. This is a music site that has interviews, show reviews, album reviews, contests. Their are also film reviews on the site. Another great thing about the site is that it will have a news section. I have written album reviews, show reviews, film reviews. Videogame Love Plus Marriage

So I just read about a guy in Japan recently married the love of 'HIS' life. The catch is that she is a character in a videogame called Love Plus. The guy's name is Sal9000 and the pixel-ed lover is Nene Anegasaki.

This ceremony was broadcasted live for people to see all across the world. They exchanged vows to a 'real life human' priest. This is the first videogame marriage to date. They are not kidding when saying that videogames are becoming more life like.

I hope nobody else who has the game now tries to hit on her, shes hitched.

Coffee For Free

Was at McDonalds and I really like the free coffee deal. Drinking coffee and listening to Sigur Rós. Very calming

Work Hardened

Visual Art is something that I have loved all my life. drawings, paintings, tattoos, film, etc... One artist that I have been a major fan of lately is Paul Romano who does art for bands. Ive been slowly collecting some of his work. Here is what I have of his so far:

Flyler/poster Event Work

I notice a lot of events will create flyers/posters to help advertise the special day. I also notice that many of the designs are very unappealing to the eye making it very boring and unattractive to people.

Since I have been recently been playing around with Photoshop I have made some event flyers of events that I never found flyers for.

Because of being a marketer I understand how important it is to get the message across, but also understand that it has to appeal to the target that event planners/promoters are trying to get the word to. New Beginnings

While I sit here looking for a job, I like to try to find ways to entertain myself. First off I like to write for Puregrainaudio, a website about music and a bit about films. I also like to try customizing my web pages. I am just starting to learn HTML and how to use certain sites more effectively. And to back up some of the HTML I am also using photoshop more to try to make cool looking pictures.

Now I am also going to start using the blogging world as a way to entertain myself, get information out about me, my small business(CheeK)I'm starting and hopefully learn more about whats going on in this world of ours.
