TDTP is Addicting

For the past few days I have been listening to albums released within this year. One album I stumbled upon was Addicted by The Devin Townsend Project. After listening to this release, I went on Devin Townsend's official Youtube page to watch some videos of him recording. One video was showing the layering on the song 'Supercrush!'. This was an eye opening video showing all the parts to create the behemoth sound for the track. There are lots of small parts that layer together to create this sound. A voice part will have up to 5 effects on it. The chorus has some echo and also backed by a simple guitar track following the vocal patter of Devin Townsend.

The man is a genius and I am now going back to all his releases from his solo project and his metal band Strapping Young Lad. I am hearing small parts he has inserted to create the signature Devin Townsend sound. The man is truly an inspirational artist and deserves more fans for his work.

On top of being a great musician, he is also an owner of his own record label HeavyDevy Records. This distributes all his releases, even his Strapping Young Lad albums which were released on Century Media
